Learn the latest in brain injury research across the lifespan of care
DENVER – Six of the world’s leading experts in traumatic brain injury (TBI) will share their latest research at the fourth annual conference of the Brain Injury Professionals Partnership hosted by the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver (DU). Experts include:
James Kelly, director of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, is one of America’s top experts on treating concussions. He was the neurological consultant for the Chicago Bears.
Rodney Vanderploeg, clinical neuropsychologist in the Brain Injury and Polytrauma Rehabilitation program at the Tampa VAMC, helped develop the Blast Injury Program and the TBI Clinical Reminder system within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
John Povlishock, chair of Anatomy and Neurobiology on the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University. Provlishock’s research focuses on traumatic brain injury, with emphasis on neuroprotection, targeting neuronal, axonal and vascular change.
Mark Rapoport, associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto, researches traumatic brain injury in the elderly and the risk of motor vehicle accidents associated with neurological and psychiatric disease and their treatments.
Jeffrey Barth, director of the Brain Injury and Sports Concussion Institute at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is a member of the NFL Players Association Concussion Committee and works with the Department of Defense and American Academy of Neurology.
Jeanne Dise-Lewis, director of the Psychology Program for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Children’s Hospital in Denver, has created several innovative programs of services for children who have medical needs and their families.
