Second Annual Summer Carillon Concert Series

University of Denver (DU) Carillonneur Carol Jickling Lens will host five summer concerts at 7 p.m. June 22, July 6, July 20, Aug. 3 and Aug. 17.

“I am quite excited about hosting the second annual summer carillon recital series at DU,” Jickling Lens says. “These performers are the world’s elite carillonneurs; it is a privilege to have them in Denver.”

DU’s carillon features 65 bronze bells, the biggest of which weighs six tons. It has a baton keyboard with foot pedals the carillonneur strikes with her fists and feet. DU’s Carillon is one of 180 such instruments in North America, and only the second in Colorado. The carillon is located in the Williams Bell Tower at the Ritchie Center, so the public is welcome to gather near the Ritchie Center to listen in for free.
