Lamont Clarinet Festival brings high school players to DU

Jeremy Reynolds

The inaugural Lamont Clarinet Festival will bring high school clarinet students from all over Colorado to the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music on April 7. “This will hopefully serve as an annual event for all clarinetists to look forward to and act as a place to learn and exchange clarinet information,” says Jeremy Reynolds, assistant professor of clarinet at Lamont and host of the festival.

The guest artist for the festival will be Jonatan Rives Beneite from the Professional Conservatory in Murcia, Spain.

Reynolds will perform a welcome recital at 9:30 a.m. to kick off the day’s festivities, and Beneite will present a solo recital at 4:30 p.m. The students in attendance will participate in master classes presented by Reynolds and Beneite throughout the day and will make up the festival clarinet choir, which will perform the finale concert of the festival at 5:45 p.m.  The concerts are free and open to the public and will take place in Hamilton Recital Hall at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts.

Participation is open to all high school clarinetists. Registration is $10 in advance and $15 the day of the event. To register, contact Jeremy Reynolds at Jeremy.W.Reynolds@du.edu.
