It’s not too late to visit “Warhol in Colorado” at DU’s Victoria H. Myhren Gallery.
The exhibition features screen prints, photographs, films, record album covers, posters and other works by and about Andy Warhol. The show, which runs until March 13, is built around 158 Warhol Polaroids and silver prints gifted to the gallery by the Warhol Foundation in 2008.
Kyle MacMillan’s review in the Denver Post says, “The Myhren Gallery could have simply exhibited a portion of the donation, and that probably would have been interesting enough. But to their credit, [Dan] Jacobs and [Rupert] Jenkins greatly expanded the show’s scope, borrowing supplementary objects from nearly 20 private and public collections.”
Exhibit curators Jacobs and Jenkins also collaborated with the Denver Film Society. I Shot Andy Warhol by Mary Harron will be shown at 7 p.m. March 1 at the Myhren Gallery. Adam Lerner, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, will be the presenter. The event is free.
On March 9, the gallery hosts a forum, “Turn-about is Fair Play: Documenting Andy Warhol,” with photographers John Bonath, Valere Harris Shane and Mark Sink. The event is free and starts at 6:30 in the gallery.
The gallery is located in DU’s School of Art and Art History at 2121 E. Asbury Ave. in Denver. The free exhibit is open daily from noon–6 p.m. until March 13.
