The Denver men’s and women’s golf squads swept the Summit League Championships Wednesday at the Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller, Texas.

On the men’s side, Denver overcame an eight-stroke deficit entering the final round to defeat IUPUI by five strokes. South Dakota State finished in third place, moving up three spots with a 294, which was the second-lowest round by a team in the tournament.

Denver’s top three finishers, Victor Doka, Patrick Frodigh and Ole Ramsnes, all tied for third place with a 224, leading the Pioneer men’s team in its inaugural season in the league.

In the women’s competition, Denver set a new league record with a 54-hole 887 (295-300-292). North Dakota State took second place after capturing its first-ever title a year ago, and IUPUI finished in third.

Denver’s Tonje Daffinrud (219), Mariell Bruun (221) and Elyse Smidinger (223) were the top three finishers, while Isabel Southard was in a tie for fifth (234) with IUPUI’s Ana Fernandez de Mesa and Kelli Witt. Fort Wayne’s Ashton Taft took fourth place.
