Two DU gymnasts are advancing to this year’s NCCA national championships in Lincoln, Neb., April 16–April 18.
Senior Jessica López and junior Kelley Hennigan will compete in the all-around competition.
López placed first at the regional meet in the all-around competition and earned All-American honors while Hennigan came in seventh. López also claimed first place in vault and floor competition, and second place on bars and balance beam.
For López, competing at the national championships adds to her storied career. She led the DU gymnastics team to the NCAA championship meet in 2007. She has been named All-American three times. López also competed in the 2008 Olympics for her native country, Venezuela.
Hennigan is making her second trip to the NCAA national championships; she last went in 2007 with the team, competing in the vault and balance beam.
