University of Denver gymnast Nina McGee qualified to her second consecutive NCAA national championship after finishing second in the all-around at Saturday’s NCAA regionals in Minneapolis. This will be the 17th straight season that at least one DU gymnast has advanced to the NCAA National Championships.
McGee also claimed the floor title with a meet-high 9.950, continuing her streak of winning at least one individual title in every meet this season.
McGee will compete in the semifinals at the NCAA National Championships on Friday, April 15, in Fort Worth, Texas. She will seek to improve on her tie for second on floor and 11th-place finish in the all-around at the 2015 NCAA nationals.
As a team, the Pioneers fought back from an early deficit and kept themselves in the hunt for a team berth through the final routine. The team finished fourth, behind Florida, Minnesota and Missouri. DU finished ahead of Ohio State and BYU.
