The University of Denver men’s lacrosse team opens its home slate by hosting the annual DU Face-Off Classic at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Feb. 25 and 26. The Pioneers welcome the Michigan Wolverines at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The teams will meet for the first time in both schools’ histories, as Michigan is competing at the NCAA Division I level for the first time after dominating club lacrosse for the past decade and earning three straight national club team titles from 2008–10.
The Pioneers have dominated the DU Face-Off Classic, holding a 17-5 record since the team first started the classic in 2001. The Wolverines hold a 0-2 overall record early in 2012, dropping their last game to perennial power No. 17 Penn State.
The third annual Face-Off Classic kicks off Saturday with an 11 a.m. game between Air Force and Robert Morris, followed by the Wolverines battling the Pioneers at 1:30 p.m. Sunday’s action will begin at 11 a.m. with a contest between Air Force and Michigan. Denver will end the classic by taking on Robert Morris at 1:30 p.m.
Single-game tickets are available for $9. Children 2 and under are admitted free but must sit on a ticketholder’s lap. Admission is free for DU students with a valid Pioneer Card.
A two-day, four-game pass also is available for $20; it must be purchased in advance. Face-Off Classic single-day passes (two games) are $15.
