Research Update: January 2012

Law Professor Arthur Best published a new book, Strategies and Techniques for Teaching Torts (Wolters Kluwer, 2011).

Deborah Borman, visiting professor of law, co-presented “Teaching Legal Research: Free and Lower Fee Based Resources” at the University of Miami School of Law on Dec. 2, 2011. She also coordinated and moderated a panel discussion on “The Making of a Great Teaching Assistant Team” during the visit. As leader of the program book subcommittee for 13 nationwide teaching conferences, Borman in December collected, organized and distributed speaker and program information for compilation in each conference site’s program book.

Engineering Associate Professor Richard Voyles presented the keynote talk, “From Side-Slipping Locomotion to Shape-Shifting Polymers: Looking Beyond Treads and Wheels” at the 3rd International Joint Topical Meeting on Emergency Preparedness & Response and Robotics & Remote Systems hosted by the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The joint topical meeting is sponsored by the American Nuclear Society.

Bernard Chao, law assistant professor, authored an article, “Bringing Coherence to Foreign Infringement,” accepted for publication in the April 2012 issue of the UMKC Law Review (Vol. 8 Issue 3).
